Site Inspections
The EPA, state, and local agencies are serious about water pollution prevention. That is why your stormwater pollution prevention plan (SWPPP) must include a schedule for regular inspections to make sure that your controls are working.
Green Globe Environmental, LLC provides inspection services to help you maintain National Pollution Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permit compliance.
NPDES Inspection Requirements
Every NPDES permit holder is required to have regular inspections to ensure the effectiveness of implemented BMPs. However, the frequency of inspections varies for each project.
For most construction projects, inspections are required:
- Every 14 days
- Within 24 hours of a rain event of .25 inches or greater
For industrial operators, your SWPPP should include two types of inspections:
Routine facility assessments, the schedule for which will be determined by the nature of the operations
Comprehensive annual inspections
Projects or industrial operations near an at-risk waterbody may introduce additional inspection requirements, such as water sampling.
Green Globe Environmental Pollution Prevention Inspections
Inspections must be conducted by a professional who understands NPDES permit requirements, stormwater pollution prevention BMPs and erosion and sediment control. While New Mexico does not require inspectors to possess professional certification, Green Globe Environmental, LLC inspectors do possess the only two nationally recognized certifications for stormwater inspection:
- Certified Erosion, Sediment and Stormwater Inspector (CESSWI)
- Certified Inspector of Sediment and Erosion Control (CISEC)
Our inspectors have years of experience in the field. In addition to identifying compliance issues, they can help you develop cost-effective remedies and maintenance strategies.
